The 9mm Yarygin Pistol (index 6P35) was designed by Vladimir Alexandrovich Yarygin at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant and adopted by the Russian military in 2003 . Widely known as the MP-443 "Grach" , it was developed under the "Grach" project to replace the aging Makarov pistol and has been gradually replacing it since 2003 .
