OTs-27 Berdysh

The OTs-27 Berdysh (also designated PSA — "Stechkin-Avramov Pistol") was developed by Igor Yakovlevich Stechkin together with B.V. Avramov at Tula TsKIB SOO in the early 1990s . The pistol was first publicly demonstrated in April 1994 at the "Milipol-Moscow 94" exhibition and was intended for Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs . Although withdrawn from the "Grach" military pistol competition, development continued for law enforcement and special services .

Key Feature — Modularity:
The defining feature of the Berdysh is its quick-change barrel system . Replacing the barrel takes just 40–60 seconds and allows conversion to a different caliber . The pistol comes with three interchangeable barrels :

• 9×18mm PM / PMM — the standard Russian service cartridge .

• 9×19mm Parabellum — the widely used international cartridge, offering high power .

• 7.62×25mm Tokarev — a cartridge with excellent ballistics and high penetration, available in large quantities .

Design:
The action operates on a straight blowback principle . The hammer-fired trigger mechanism is double-action, allowing both self-cocking and pre-cocked fire . The manual safety features an ambidextrous lever that blocks the hammer, firing pin, and slide, and also has a decocking position . A laser or flashlight can be mounted .

Combat Performance:
Depending on caliber, the detachable box magazine holds 15 or 18 rounds (18 for 9×18) . Effective sighting range is 50 m . The pistol is known for its reliability, simplicity, and versatility.
